Progress At Morley House

Progress At Morley House

A scaled-back construction continued this month by contractor Kier. As the scaffolding has come down, the retained and restored, Grade II-listed facade is revealed. At ground level, many of the original shop window frames are re-installed having been fully refurbished by specialist joiners. They sit seamlessly alongside several new frames. The cleaning process has restored the Morley House lettering to its original vivid colours.

At the top of the building the new Mansard roof is complete, including decorative lead details and the refurbished acroterion back in position (pictured in the workshop after being coated, below).

To the rear, the new build structure is complete, with a light-coloured and glazed ceramic brick finish. Interior works to the 44 apartments are ongoing, with many of the kitchens and bathrooms already installed. On the recent site inspection, it was also possible to capture some views out over an uncharacteristically peaceful Regent Street.
